Session10: Microsoft Azure: Active Directory

Many network administrators are familiar with Active Directory and its long history as the premiere directory service from Microsoft for managing access to resources and enterprise directories. While an understanding of Active Directory is a key addition to any administrator’s toolkit, knowing how to work with Azure Active Directory (Azure AD)— the service-based approach to Active Directory that’s included in the Microsoft Azure offering—is just as crucial. Azure AD provides most of the rich functionalities of Active Directory, with the conveniences of cloud-based computing, and the new familiar management tools of Azure. In this course, David Elfassy helps you get started with Azure AD by exploring its feature set, and demonstrating how to manage and implement this powerful solution.

David shows how to implement and manage user and group accounts, join client computers, and implement single sign-on and multi-factor authentication. (Industry standard protocols such as SAML 2.0, WS-Federation, and OpenID Connect make sign-on possible on a variety of platforms.) To wrap up the course, David reviews the more advanced features in Azure AD and Azure AD Connect, including syncing on-premises Active Directory and Azure AD, and troubleshooting an Azure AD deployment.
